Remembering Phyllis Meyerson, Industry Colleague and Friend

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Phyllis Meyerson, a cherished friend of OrboGraph and a highly respected member of the check community, on October 15, 2025.

Phyllis will be fondly remembered by her friends and colleagues for her intelligence, spirited nature, and generosity. She consistently remained true to herself and inspired those around her. Throughout nearly 50-years in the banking and payments industry, Phyllis earned several prestigious certifications, including Permanent Certified Cash Manager (CCM), Permanent Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), and National Check Professional (NCP). Her distinguished career encompassed roles ranging from ACH programmer and product manager in cash management to bank operations manager, consultant, and vice president.

She made a lasting impact on the payments industry through her leadership and service. Phyllis contributed to the formation of the New York ACH Association, presided over the Southwest Automated Clearing House Association, chaired an X9 standards subcommittee, developed questions for the NCP exam, and served as a senior executive for a national check payments rules organization.

Perhaps most notably, Phyllis played a pivotal role in the promotion and implementation of the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act aka Check 21 Act. Furthermore, she co-authored the eBook Check 21 – A Blockbuster Story with David Walker. In recent months, OrboGraph has been honored to collaborate with Phyllis and David to adapt the eBook into an audiobook and video, with the goal of sharing her remarkable story with an even wider audience. We look forward to launching these new formats in the coming week and hope they will allow friends and colleagues to celebrate and remember Phyllis’ legacy of extraordinary contributions to our industry.
